Kenya records 847 new COVID-19 cases from 6,080 samples

The Ministry of Health in Kenya has confirmed 847 new cases of COVID-19 from 6,080 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases which represents a positivity rate of 13.9% now push the cumulative number of cases and samples so far tested to 196,757 and 2,087,582 respectively.

Out of the cases, 827 of them are Kenyans and 27 are foreigners comprising of 485 males and 362 females. The youngest is 5-months old and the oldest 97 years.

In terms of distribution, Nairobi leads with 397 cases, Busia 66, Kiambu 58, Nakuru 46, Mombasa 40, Nyeri 35, Machakos 29, Kilifi 23, Turkana 17, Kitui 14, Murang’a 12, Kericho 11, Kirinyaga 10, Nyandarua 10, Garissa 8, Kajiado 8, Siaya 8, Homa Bay 7, Kisumu 6, Bungoma 6, Uasin Gishu 6, Migori 5, Vihiga 4, Lamu 3, Nyamira 3, Meru 2, Narok 2, West Pokot 2, Laikipia 2, Taita Taveta 1, Tana River 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Embu 1, Kakamega 1, Kisii 1 and Kwale 1.

On a positive note, 722 patients have recovered from the virus pushing the cumulative number of recoveries in the country to 185,607. Out of the recoveries, 567 of them are from home-based care and 155 from various health facilities across the country.

Sadly, 11 patients have succumbed to the virus pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 3,849 as confirmed by the Ministry of Health.
