Kenyan Striker Michael Olunga has signed with Japan side Kashiwa Reysol.
24 year old Michael Olunga has signed a three years contract with Kashiwa after a transfer from Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng. Olunga took to Instagram to break the news saying “New Roads, New Rivers, New Chapter Beginning of another unfolded history”
The transfer fee is reported to be around Ksh 300 million with Olunga going to pocket Ksh 15 million per month which is a 5 million increase. His value has however decreased by Ksh 100 million as he was reported signed by the Chineese side at a whopping Ksh 400 million.
The Harambee Stars striker signed for Guizhou after leaving Swedish side Djurgardens IF in February 2016.
During his one year spell at Sweden he scored 12 goals. Last season Michael Olunga was on loan at La Liga side Girona FC. At Girona he will be remembered for his hat-trick when Girona faced Las Palmas becoming the first Kenyan to score a hat-trick in La Liga.
Girona won the match 6-0. In La Liga, the forward also become the second player from Kenya and East Africa to compete in the Spanish top league after Kenyan Mc Donald Mariga who is the younger brother to Victor Wanyama who plays for English side Tottenham Hotspurs.
