Kenya’s COVID-19 cases rise by 65, recoveries by 77

Kenya has on Monday recorded 65 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours from 2,681 samples tested.

The new cases now bring to 99,227 the cumulative number of cases tested and 1,128,360 samples tested so far since the first cases was confirmed in the country.

“65 people have tested positive to the disease, out of a sample size of 2,681 tested in the last 24 hours. The total confirmed positive cases are now 99,227. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,128,360.” Said MOH

Distribution of the new cases are as follows;Nairobi 53, Kajiado 3, Mombasa 2, Kitui 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Machakos 1, Kakamega 1 and Murang’a 1.

On a positive note, 77 patients recovered from the disease rising the number of recoveries in the country to 82,427. Out of the recoveries, 60 of them are from home based care and the rest from various hospitals across the country.

“77 patients have recovered from the disease. 60 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care while 17 are from our various facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 82,427.” Said Ministry of Health.

Sadly, three more patients succumbed to the disease rising the number of deaths in the country to 1,734.

“Currently there are 697 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,680 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 28 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen. 3 are under observation.

11 other patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 10 of them in the general wards. 1 patient is in the High Dependency Unit.” Said Ministry of Health.
