Kenya’s COVID-19 fatalities rise by 17 to 1,330

The country has on Thursday confirmed 17 deaths caused by COVID-19 rising the number of deaths to 1,330.

“Sadly, another 17 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 1,330. Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones.” said Ministry of Health.

At the time, the ministry confirmed 1,459 new cases of the virus from 10,146 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases which comprise of 1,419 Kenyans and 40 foreigners, rise the number of confirmed cases and tested conducted to 74,145 and 815,040 respectively.

“Today 1,459 people have tested positive for the virus, from a sample size of 10,146 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 74,145 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country. The cumulative tests are now 815,040. 1,419 are Kenyans and 40 are foreigners.” said MOH

In terms of distribution of the new cases by counties is as below; Nairobi 472, Kiambu 311, Mombasa 108, Laikipia 63, Uasin Gishu 53, Busia 49, Kisumu 48, Meru 43, Nakuru 36, Kericho 33, Kisii 29, Kakamega 29, Marsabit 17, Murang’a 16, Nyamira 16, Kajiado 15, Garissa 13, Nandi 12, Kitui 12,Nyeri 11, Machakos 11, Siaya 10, Bungoma 10, Turkana 8, Kirinyaga 8, Kilifi 6, Bomet 5, Trans Nzoia 4, Homabay 3, Makueni 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kwale 2, Isiolo 1, and Tharaka Nithi 1.

On a positive note, 780 patients recovered from the virus rising the number of recoveries in the country to 50,658.

“780 patients have recovered from the disease, 690 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 90 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 50,658.” said MOH
