Kericho burglar kills self to avoid an angry mob

A burglar in Kericho County is said to have committed suicide after breaking into a house and stealing Ksh 84,000.

The Sunday morning incident is said to have occurred when the owner of the house who is a local business woman had left for church thinking that no one was inside the house.

Unknowingly one of the woman’s children was at the house to look after the cattle and noticed someone had broken into the house.

The child raised an alarm that attracted locals to the house. At this time the burglar hide himself in one of the rooms inside the house where he got hold of the rope which he used to kill himself as he thought it was better than being punished by a mob and dying a painful death.

By the time the locals broke into house, they found the burglar already dead with cash still stashed in his pocket.

Efforts to identify the burglar were futile as he had no identification documents with him. His body was transferred to Kericho District Mortuary.
