Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne has suffered a knee injury while in training.
It is not yet clear the extent of the injury with City saying the injured by the Belgium star is “ not yet known” The 27 year old has also injured his leg in the past in 2016 forcing him to miss 12 games for his club.
The injured was picked after playing Everton the EFL semifinal. Last season De Bruyne scored 12 goals for his club and provided 21 assist, in a campaign that saw him winning the player of the season and City lifting the Premier League and the EFL cup.
On Sunday, the defending champions opened they Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory against Arsenal.
They are scheduled to play a second away game to Wolves, then a home game with Newcastle before taking an international break.
Last season City broke records winning the League with 100 points, winning 32 matches and scoring 106 goals.
On Saturday De Bruyne was quoted confessing that as a club they will never have another season like that of last time. Manchester City is currently fighting to become the first club to retain the Premier League since 2009.
