Khalwale drops out of Kakamega governor race to back Malala

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has dropped out of Kakamega gubernatorial race and will now back Senator Cleophas Malala.

The announcement now will see Boni Khalwale vie for the county’s Senatorial seat under the Kenya Kwanza coalition as confirmed on Wednesday.

The news follows a series of discussion held between Khalwale and Malala at DP Ruto’s house in Karen with Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula being present at the meeting.

Speaking after their meeting in Karen, Ruto expressed how confident they were that Kakamega will be under Kenya Kwanza leadership after the August elections.

Both Malala and Khalwale have openly clashed over who is favourite to clinch the seat and replace outgoing Governor Wycliffe Oparanya during a recent rally held by Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula.
