“Am pleased to inform the people of Kakamega that I am now duly nominated by the UDA Kenya to vie for Senate for our county. I thank our PL, William Ruto for the confidence that he has in me & our people for their priceless support.” Said Khalwale.

In 2007, the Nairobi University alumni was beaten at the polls by fellow UDA counterpart Cleophas Malala who recently clinched the party’s nomination as the candidate for Kakamega Governor seat.

In March, Khalwale stepped down as an aspirant for Kakamega Gubernatorial seat under UDA to pave way for Cleophas Malala following discussions with DP William Ruto as ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

“After intensive consultations, soul searching, reading from the script of Michael Kijana Wamalwa & in keeping with my iconic mantra of decisive leadership, I’ve today happily opted to return to National politics leaving Sen Malala to steer Kakamega County as Governor. Thank u all.” Said Boni
