Governor Ferdinand Waititu of Kiambu has on Thursday been impeached in a motion tabled at the County Assembly.
Waititu impeachment follows allegations of misappropriation of County funds that were reportedly diverted into his own accounts.
Only one MCA voted against the impeachment as 63 others were for it as the next steps will be for the Senate to make the final decision.
Solomon Kinuthia, Ndederu MCA tabled the motion as he was against his leadership and allegations that the Governor was awarding his close family members county tenders.
Millions of public funds was reported to have been misused under his tenure sighting abuse of office.
He was also accused of going contrary to procurement laws as he had hired several officials to undertake county duties.
Since his dramatic arrest following graft charges, Governor Waititu has threatened to establish a separate office to run county affairs.
