Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has confirmed vying for the Homabay Governor seat as an independent candidate.
Taking on social media, the former Governor confirmed to have heard the cries of the people of Homabay who want restoration of sovereign jurisdication.
“In response to your cries for better Governance and restoration of your sovereign jurisdiction,I will offer myself as an independent candidate for the position of Homa Bay County Governor. I am overwhelmed by your unconditional support. I will be on the ballot on August 9th 2022. Take my word – I will not let you down!” Said Kidero

The news comes days after fellow aspirants Gladys Wanga and Joseph Oyugi Magwanga were brought together by ODM party leader Raila Odinga to vie for the seat as Governor and deputy governor seat respectively.
The meeting follows a hotly contested election ahead as both leaders stood a better chance of succeeding outgoing Governor Awiti who was in attendance during the meeting in Nairobi.
