Kinoti summoned by court over release of Echesa’s vehicles

George Kinoti the Director of Criminal Investigation in Kenya has been summoned by a Kiambu court to explain why he has not released vehicles belonging to FormerSports CS Rashdi Echesa.

According to the order released by a Kiambu, the DCI boss is requested to answer as to why he has not released three of the former CS’s vehicle they are holding.

Previously the court has ordered the release of the vehicles when detectives failed to provide sufficient reasons as to why they were holding them in the first place.

The three vehicles including a Ford Ranger, Lexus and Mercedes Benz were confiscated following a complain by one Kisumu resident who said they were illegally obtained.

Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atembo said detaining of the vehicles without any clear justification was contravening the right to one’s private properties.
