Kirinyaga police are investigating a mysterious murder of an 80-year old woman who was raped and killed.
Jedida Wanjiru is said to have been strangled before she was discovered by her 3-year old grandson in Kirinyaga County.
The young grandson reported the incident to family members saying that her grandmother had refused to wake up.
Jedida’s youngest son rushed to her room only to find her lying helplessly, naked with a cloth stuffed in her mouth.

Investigations into the mysterious murder have already began with the public urged to provide any relevant information to the police.
Area residents have called on the police to ensure that the suspect(s) are brought to book as they fear for future incidents.
The 80-year -old death is the incident to be reported in the area.
In June this year, a 32-year old man burnt his wife with a stove in Kirinyaga County after failing to cook his favorite food.
The 27-year-old wife had been told to cook githeri but ended up cooking rice instead.
It was not the first time that the two had been involved in domestic quarrels as reported by their neighbors.
