Demolitions are underway in Kisumu to pave way for the construction and expansion of Kisumu port.
On Tuesday night structures near construction sites were brought down and they include famous Lwangni hotel sited next to the shores of the lake.

The demolition follows a one-month eviction notice issued by Kenya Railways on the traders in the area after which the structure should come out.

The notice gave the traders a short lease of the said period of occupancy after which a forceful eviction will come through.
Other places in Kisumu issued a notice to vacate include the famous Winmart behind Tusky’s Mega and businesses located near Central Square.

Currently, constructions are ongoing to construct the new Kisumu Port with the County waiting for the construction of SGR following approval of funds by the Chinese government.
The construction of the Port will light up the city and provide employment to the locals.
