A massive fire in Kisumu’s Jua Kali area has destroyed property worth millions.
The yesterday’s inferno burnt cars and spare parts shops in the area. The fire is said to have started from a building before spreading to the nearby garage and a motor vehicle spare parts shops
. So far one person has been arrested. The arrested person is the landlord of the building who is said to have disagreed with his tenants over unpaid rent.
The landlord is said to have issued threats that were not specific in nature.
Most of the vehicles burnt were in the garage waiting for repair. The fire is said to have started late at night before spreading to other parts.
It however was able to spread faster due to petrol in some of the cars.

Owners of the vehicles rushed to the scene but watched helplessly as the fire burnt down there vehicles.
Pratik Raja who runs spare parts shops in the building for the last 35 years said that he has lost goods worth millions. Mr. Raja says he was informed by his watchman and when he arrived there was nothing he could do but to watch his investment go up in flames.
Kisumu fire brigade arrived at the scene an hour later to help contain the fire.
