The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists union acting secretary-general Dr. Chibanzi Mwachonda has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement to all KMPDU members and general public Dr. Chibanzi confirmed to have contracted the virus while dispensing his official duties.
he continued by confirming he is in a stable condition, his family is safe as contact tracing is ongoing.

The acting secretary-general noted that the virus is now spreading through communities but its should not cause fear and stigma instead the number of recoveries should give people hope of defeating it.
Kenyans have been urged to continue adhering to the measures issued by the Ministry of Health to help flatten the curve.
Frontline health workers have been called upon to soldier on their fight against the virus as Dr. Chibanzi Mwachonda urged the government to equip them with PPEs and unveil a welfare package in addition to other benefits.
