Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that the club has signed Edouard Mendy from Rennes to strengthen his squad in the ongoing season.
The Senegalese goalkeeper is expected to bring competition to the club especially to fellow goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Kepa who was signed at a record fee of £71 million has recorded some crucial errors especially during the tie with Champions Liverpool.
- Luiz Suarez caught in between an exam cheating scandal
- Manchester City dominate Wolves in first EPL fixture
- Arsenal sign goalkeeper Alex Runarsson from Dijon
His recent performance has seen manager Frank Lampard drop him out of Carabao cup fixture set for Wednesday against Barnsley.
In his interview after the Liverpool clash, Lampard admitted the 25-year-old made clear mistakes that led to the second goal by Sadio Mane.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder admitted Kepa Arrizabalaga needs support just like any other player in his squad.
It will be up to the record signing goalkeeper to regain his confidence or else risks being axed from the club.
