It is however not clear how many people have been affected by the landslides but destructions have been recorded in the affected areas.

On Saturday 15 people were reported to have been buried alive in West Pokot as roads were rendered impassable.

KDF soldiers were deployed in the affected area to rescue people but the state of the area hindered rescue mission.

Passengers plying the Trans-Nzoia road to Turkana spent the better part of the night and day on the road as sections were swept away by the floods.

The government stepped in through West Pokot Governor to supply food to the affected people.

President Uhuru Kenyatta called various departments to step in and offer the necessary assistance.
