Lesbos camp is one of the largest centers which had recently been placed under quarantine after 35 people tested positive for COVID-19.
Ten engines and 25 firefighters personnel arrived at the scene are currently battling the inferno that has occupied both inside and outside of the facility.
About four times its normal capacity, the camp hosted 12,000 people and criticized for its poor condition which is not conducive for human habitation.
Most of the migrants are reported to have made their way into the facility due to the coronavirus pandemic rocking Europe.
The huge numbers have however made it difficult for people to maintain social distance and hygiene as recommended by WHO.
