Lilian Omollo: Labour Court awards former PS Ksh 1

Former Youth and Gender PS Lilian Omollo has been awarded Ksh 1 by the Employment and Labour Court over the nature of her removal from office.

The court noted that her removal was unconstitutional and that the due procedure was not followed in the matter.

Passing the ruling, Judge Stephen Radido noted that the former Youth PS was not protected as it should be by the constitution in such a case.

In June 2018, PS Lilian Omollo was dismissed from her position after her replacement had been found.

She is also battling graft charges with the courts trying to establish the source of her wealth that is being held in multiple bank accounts.

In her defense she said that the money was part of her salary as sought permission to access the accounts already frozen.

She continued by saying incomes from her husband and sell of some of her properties were some of the sources of her wealth.

The prosecution on the other hand noted that Ksh 33 million in question was proceeds of the NYS scandal that had rocked the country.
