Kericho is set to have another Deputy Governor after Lilly Chepngetich’s name was forwarded to replace Susan Kikwai who passed away from COVID-19 complications.
In a letter tabled before the County Assembly, Governor Chepkwony noted that the nomination of Lilly Chepngetich was in line with what he had started as a gender balanced government.
The Governor continued by praising the incoming Deputy Governor as a qualified leader and well qualified for the position which he is sure she will deliver.

Before her nomination, Lilly Chepngetich served as County Executive Committee (CEC) member in-charge of Education, Sports and Social Services.
The position fell vacant following the demise of Susan Kikwai on Saturday 20th March in Kericho County while receiving treatment after contracting COVID-19.
In a statement released by her family, the deceased was discharged on Thursday, the same week but her condition worsened prompting them to rush her to the hospital for teatment.
Speaking during the memorial service of the late Deputy Governor, various leaders called called on the Governor to nominate another woman in line with the two-third gender rule.
