Lionel Messi scores two as Barcelona beat Espanyol

Lionel Messi scored twice in the second half to beat opponents Espanyol and take a 13-point lead in the La Liga table.

Espanyol came close in the first half but Victor Sanchez failing to direct the ball to the back of Barcelona’s net.

 Barcelona dominated the first half with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic causing all manner of trouble to Espanyol defense.

Lionel Messi broke the deadlock in the 71-minute following a counter attack from Barcelona.

Messi doubled the lead in the 89th minute after picking up a Malcolm’s cross scoring his 22nd goal in 15 La Liga games.

Barcelona are scheduled to face English side Manchester United in the Champions League away at the Old Trafford.
