Liverpool strike late to sink heartbroken Wolves

Divock Origi’s extra time goal was enough to heartbreak Wolves and extend Liverpool’s away record at their host to eight matches.

Wolves produced an outstanding display to prevent Liverpool from extending their traditional three plus goal tally by displaying a strong defense.

Both Mohamed Salah, Jota and Sadio Mane were denied as the host effectively deployed a five-man defense that stopped Salah from converting an Andy Robertson’s cross.

Wolves attempted to inflict the visitors their very first Premier League defeat in a very long time but it was Jota who missed a crucial opportunity to fire to an empty net but sent the ball straight towards Conor Coady.

It was becoming evident that Liverpool was heading for a draw but Jurgen Klopp’s late substitutes paid off when Origi stepped in and netted from close range to break the hearts of Wolves.

The win sent Liverpool to the top of the table with 34 points as Wolves stuck in 8th position with 21 points from 15 matches played.
