Lorry ferrying maize bags skids into the sea in Mombasa

A lorry belonging to Mombasa Maize Millers has on Tuesday morning skidded into the sea in Mombasa.

The lorry which had bags of the precious commodity failed to climb uphill in the Likoni mainland ramp after it came from the morning ferry.

Luckily, all occupants in the lorry escaped unhurt as efforts to get it out the sea began.

“A Mombasa maize millers Loaded lorry failed to climb uphill on the Likoni mainland ramp while disembarking from the ferry at around 9:10 am this morning, It skidded into the sea adjacent to the ramp. The occupants escaped unhurt.


Efforts are underway to salvage the vehicle as ferry operations continue as scheduled.” Said Ferry Kenya.

This is not the first incident happening at the ferry with many other loaded vehicles failing to climb at the mainland.

Several accidents have been recorded when heavily parked vehicles fall into the sea as they make their way into the ferry.

Other than the accidents, cases of theft are being reported due to the huge number of people making fighting to make it to the island

caution has been called upon to members of the public when using the ever-busy ferry services
