Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua addressed the media outside his office condemning the impeachment and terming it as political. Dr. Alfred Mutua continued by saying that the deputy governor will continue to serve as the finance CEC.

Governor Mutua also accused members of the County Assembly of voting for against Mr. Maliti as a way of covering their corrupt ways.

Dr. Mutua last week called on the County Assembly requesting them to provide their financial statements, expenditure and other relevant documents.

The Governor also wrote a letter to the Auditor General to conduct a financial audit on specific people and areas. He also added that once the report is out he would personally forward it to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of criminal Investigation (DCI) so that appropriate action is taken.

According to the members of the County Assembly, they accuse the Finance CEC for failing to execute his duties in the docket.
