Education CS George Magoha has ordered both primary and secondary schools to refund fees for children who had paid in advance for the whole year.

The directive by the CS comes barely days after he confirmed to the country that the 2020 school calendar had been lost as schools are set to re-open in January 2021.

Parents were left in a limbo as to whether they will have their payments refunded now that the second and third term had been lost.

The coronavirus pandemic saw an indefinite closure of schools in March with some resuming online classes so as to finish the syllabus.

A debate also ensued as to whether parents will be paid part of the first term un-utilized school fees.

Some of the headteachers ruled that a possibility as they called on calm claiming maters to do with school fees should not come between them and parents.

They continued by saying that as institutions they will not refund the money but instead place it as an advance payment come next year.
