Man arrested for obtaining money by false pretence

Detectives from the Directorate of criminal investigations have arrested a man posing as a sales person.

29 year old Kevin Ongeri was arrested after obtaining money from unsuspecting members of the public in the pretext of selling them land, buildings and vehicles.

Kevin who is from Tharaka Nithi/Kisii County lured victims from Nairobi CBD, Langata and the wider Kasarani area.

“Detectives from Central Police Station have today arrested a suspected fraudster posing as a Sales Agent who obtains money from unsuspecting members of public in the pretext of selling them land, buildings & vehicles within the Nairobi CBD, Langata,the wider Kasarani area” Said DCI.

The suspect will be charged with obtaining money by false pretence.

In other news a woman aged 38 was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the offence oftrafficking narcotics.

She was arrested in 2016 at the airport heading to Indonesia. After being placed under observation, 83 pellets of cocaine were recovered from her.

The drugs weighed 929 grams.

“Today, Mary Mukam iMwangi aged 38yrs was sentenced to 20yrs in prison for the offence of Trafficking narcotics. She was arrested in 2016 as she prepared to depart to Indonesia. After being placed in observation she emitted 83 pellets of cocaine weighing 929 grams.” Said DCI.
