Manchester City distance themselves from Messi move

Premier League leaders Manchester City have come out to strongly distance themselves from Lionel Messi transfer links.

The news comes a time when the Argentine forward is running out of contract come next summer.

The 33-year-old has since been poised to exit the La Liga giants a move that could be fueled if Barcelona exit the Champions League given the first round 3-1 loss at Nou Camp.

Elections to find the next President of Barcelona have kicked off with all candidates reported to be keen to keep the Argentine if elected.

Currently, Messi has a total of 6 Ballon D’Or trophies and has been ranked as the best players in the world and branded the G.O.A.T tittle.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the 33-year-old but Manchester City are termed favourites given their previous relationship with Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City are reported to have submitted a second bid for Messi at Nou Camp something that has been confirmed as untrue by a close source to BBC.

In August, Leo was close to joining the Premier League leaders after handing over his request to depart, a move that was blocked by then President Josep Maria.

Football pundits are preferringErling Haaland as the best choice for Manchester City and perfect striker for them.

The Dortmund player has so far netted 25 goals in 24 appearance for the Bundesliga side in all competition. Out of the 25 goals, eight of them have been netted in five Champions League appearances.
