French defender Benjamin Mendy has been suspended by Manchester City over alleged four counts of rape and one case of assault against him.
The Manchester City defender is currently being held by Cheshire Constabulary and will be charged on Friday as confirmed by authorities.
According to reports, the 27-year-old is alleged to have raped and assaulted his victims aged above 16 years between October 2020 and August 2021. He now face criminal charges.

In a statement issued by Manchester City, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended and that they will not comment on the matter as police continue with their investigations.
“Manchester City can confirm that following his being charged by police today, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended pending an investigation.
The matter is subject to a legal process and the Club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.” Said Manchester City.
