Manchester United beat Brentford in final home match

Manchester United recorded their biggest win under Ralf Rangnick’s era to beat Brentford in their last home Premier League match of the season.

Bruno Fernandes gave the Red Devils the lead before Cristiano Ronaldo doubled it from the penalty as former Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane netted his first goal for Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo also had his goal disallowed as he trailed Mohamed Salah with four goals as he netted his 18 goal of the season.

The win moved them close to a Champions League finish depending on next weekend results as Brentford seat comfortable in the Premier League table with 40 points from 35 matches.

Manchester United fans continued to protest against the Glazer Family leadership of the club for the third time in a row but the impact has caused less effect so far.

It was however the last clash for Juan Mata in United colours as the Spaniard had his first start of the season and his last at Old Trafford. At the end of his time, Mata waved goodbye to the fans and fellow players.

It was also the last match for Nemanja Matic who waved goodbye at the fans as the club looks forward to a number of changes under Erik Ten Hag management.
