Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar has been declared the new Deputy Speaker following the ouster of Senator Kithure Kindiki.
Kamar was declared the winner on Tuesday by Speaker Kenneth Lusaka following the withdrawal of four candidates who eyed the seat.
The four included Senators Isaac Mwaura, Stewart Madzayo, Judith Pareno and Charles Kibiru.

All the four said there decision followed consultation from members of their party and in interest of President Uhuru’s goal to unite the nation.
ODM party leader Raila Odinga is believed to have played a huge role as some of the candidates stood as huge challenge but later withdrew.
Senator Stweart Madzayo for instance said the decision followied consultation from his supporters and colleagues together with the ODM party at large.
Hon. Raila Odinga has recently been perceived to have a huge impact in politics inside the Jubilee camp as revealed by rebels.
Other parties including Ford-Kenya and ANC have also admitted the same following the ouster of Senator Moses Wetangula as Ford-Kenya party leader.
Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang’ata said as a party they have opted for Kamar in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fight for gender equality.
Kang’ata also noted that Uasin Gishu has been hit by the departure of Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
