Traders at Marikiti Market located in Nairobi CBD were on Friday morning left counting losses after a fire razed down the place.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established but it comes at a time when the traders are at logger heads with Kenya Railways over ownership of the piece of land.
- Toi market inferno razes down stocks worth millions
- Government to compensate Gikomba fire victims
- Mombasa Hospital inferno contained by county firefighters
There is little the traders could do as the inferno destroyed stores where they keep their products worth millions.
The incident also comes at a time when NMS is finding ways to decongest the CBD by allocating space at Kangundo road where the traders can continue with their businesses.
Recently a piece of land close to the one destroyed was reclaimed by Kenya Railways and those operating on it were displaced.
