Martial hat-trick helps Man Utd beat Sheffield

Two goals in the first half and one in the second half by Anthony Martial saw Manchester United ease past Sheffield in their Wednesday EPL fixture.

Martial now becomes the first Manchester United player to net a hat-trick following the departure of Alex Ferguson in 2013.

The last player to net a hat-trick was Robin Van Persie who ensured that Ferguson seal his 13th trophy and the last one before hanging his boots.

The French may have not equaled the tally left by former striker Romelu Lakaku but is definitely on a roll registering his 19th goal.

His 74th minute goal was the best sending a volley past goalkeeper Moore and sealing the much needed three points of the night.

The win lifts Ole Gunner two pints shy of fourth placed Chelsea and hopes of making an entry into next season’s Champions League.

Sheffield on the other hand have suffered their third consecutive goalless match as they seat on eighth position a point behind Tottenham who have 45 points.

Solskjaer has been criticized lately for failing to sign another striker following the departure of Lukaku and Sanchez who helped the club much of last season.

In other fixtures of the day, Wolves defeated Bournemouth with a goal to nil to level on points with the Red Devils at 49.

Everton gunned down Norwich 1-0 to pile pressure on Crystal Palace who are a point above them at nine. Newcastle and Aston Villa shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw
