Eight people are feared dead after a matatu they were in rammed into a stationary lorry along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
The Sunday morning incident involved a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) belonging to 2NK sacco that operates between Nairobi and Bungoma.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kakamega County Police Commander Hassan Barua confirmed that the incident occurred at Musembe area.

““The matatu, a part of the 2NK Sacco, was heading to Nairobi from Bungoma when it hit the lorry from behind at Musembe. Our officers rushed the injured passengers to Webuye Sub-county Hospital,” Said Mr. Barua
At the time of the incident, eye witnesses confirmed to the media that several passengers sustained injuries as they attempted to save the lives of those inside the 14-seater matatu.
It is unclear how many people sustained injuries and those who survived but the passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Immediately after the accident, police manned the scene and controlled traffic along the busy highway.
