Justus Murunga the Member of Parliament (MP) of Matungu has passed on while being rushed to receive treatment.
Reports indicate that the MP was feeling unwell and had been admitted at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu before he was discharged.
He proceeded to his home in Matungu where his health was improving as he received a number of visitors to check up on his health.

On Saturday evening his health deteriorated and was rushed to the the hospital with breathing complications before he passed away on the way to St. Mary’s hospital.
Several leaders have mourned the MP terming him as a hardworking legislator who was committed to empower the people.
“We are heartbroken by the death of Matungu MP Justus Murunga Makokha. He was a focussed, hardworking and visionary leader who relentlessly advocated for the empowerment of the people.
A development-oriented titan who was dedicated to public service, Mheshimiwa Murunga was steadfast, amiable and loving. We will miss his firmness, wise counsel and vibrancy to unite and transform Western region.

Boni Khalwale who is a close ally to the Deputy President confirmed that he was being treated for hypertension and diabetes before he collapsed three days after he was discharged.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have learned of the death of Hon Justus Makokha Murunga, the MP for Matungu in Kakamega who collapsed at his home 3 days after his discharge from Kisumu Aga Khan Hospital where he had been treated for diabetes. RIP my brother” said Khalwale.
