Mau eviction: MP arrested protesting the exercise

Hon. Johanna Ngeno a Member of Parliament, MP of Emurrua Dikirr has been arrested on Tuesday following the ongoing Mau eviction.

MP Johanna Ngeno was arrested as he protested the second phase of Mau eviction in the company of other Rift Valley leaders.

The government had already issued a notice to over 10,000 families residing in the water catchment area.

The eviction notice has however received a huge backlash from local leaders who question its timing.

Addressing the media, the leaders asked reminded the President and his Deputy William Ruto of the promises they made during their campaign period.

They further called on the President to break his silence and address the issue.

At the moment residents of Mau are evicting their houses as schools have been closed as some of them welcome the idea.

The only plea the residents have Is for the government to set up places where they can reside for a while as they find a suitable area to settle.

Environmental CS Keriako Tobiko called on the local leaders to deal with him instead of threatening commissioner George Natembeya.
