Mighty Gor Mahia crowned champions

It’s celebrations as the mighty Gor Mahia are crowned the 2018 SportPesa Premier League champions. Gor Mahia was crowned after a convincing 2-0

victory over their bitter rivals AFC Leopards on Saturday at Kasarani stadium.

Gor Mahia top the table with 71 points with six matches left to the end of the season.

It’s the 17th title for K’Ogalo with 2015 and 2017 being crowned champions with 5 games to go.

Gor Mahia took the lead before half time after 31st and 44th minute goals from Boniface Omondi and Bernard Ondiek gave the Kenyan champions a 2-0 goal lead.

The match was however stopped for five minutes after AFC leopards players protested a foul that was given Gor Mahia’s way leading to the second goal.

Leopards came close to scoring in the opening five minutes but Brian Merita shot wide Alex’s pass. Angry for an equalizer, Ingwe came closer to scoring in 36th minute but the ball was cleared by Gor’s defense.

Throughout the campaign, Gor were beaten by second placed Bandari In a home match held in Mombasa. Bandari won the match 2-1.

K’Ogalo who are competing at the ongoing Caf Confederation cup lead their group D with fixture away to USM Alger of Algeria next week on Wednesday.

AFC Leopard’s coach Rodolfo Zapata congratulated Gor Mahia for their victory with Gor’s coach Dylan Kerr heaping praises to his team.

In their next fixture, Gor Mahia will face Wazito FC.
