Migori Governor Okoth Obado released

Migori Governor Okoth Obado has on Friday been released on a cash bail of Ksh 200,000.

Addressing the court, the Magistrate dismissed the prosecution for not giving enough evidence to hold the governor in detention.

She further added that the Migori Governor should not in any way interfere with the witnesses in the case involving the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

If in any way he would interfere, then the Magistrate warned of reviewing the terms set for granting a bail application.

During the hearing, the Magistrate also said that there is no way that Governor Okoth Obado can interfere with EACC and that there was no evidence to show that the guns are possessed illegally.

Arrest day

On Wednesday 14th the Migori Governor was arrested in Nairobi following a search by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on his homes.

During the search 8 guns were recovered with 3 of them being from him Migori home and the remaining 5 from his Nairobi home.

In addition to the guns, EACC found crucial documents believed to be crucial in the misappropriation of Ksh 2 billion from Migori County Government.

He was quickly taken to the DCI headquarters for interrogation.
