Nominated Senator Milicent Omanga has called out Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi over police actions witnessed at City hall on Tuesday.
Omanga condemned the beating, assault and mishandling of Mlango Kubwa MCA Patriciah Mutheu and other women of the Nairobi County Assembly.
“As a member of Nairobi County Delegation to the Senate & a woman Leader,I wish to condemn in the strongest terms possible the manhandling,assault & beating of Mlango Kubwa MCA Hon Patriciah Mutheu and other women MCAs within the precincts of Nairobi County Assembly.”

She continues by calling on Speaker Beatrice Elachi to ensure that the Nairobi County offices are safe for people to use and not to intimidate fellow women.
“It is very wrong for Speaker Beatrice Elachi to use police force to intimidate and maim Nairobi women leaders like Hon Mutheu& her colleagues.As a woman, Elachi shed make Nairobi County Assembly Premises safe working space for fellow women leaders like Hon Mutheu.”
The nominated Senator further called on the Inspector General, DPP and IPOA to investigate the matter.
“If a Nairobi woman leader like Hon Mutheu is not free &safe from gended-based violence in the Assembly premises,is any woman who is resident in Nairobi County safe anywhere?IG Mutyambai,DPP & IPOA must bring to book these 4 shameless male police officers & whoever hired them.”
