Ministry of Health in Kenya confirms 15 COVID-19 deaths

The Ministry of Health in Kenya has on Sunday confirmed 15 new COVID-19 deaths pushing the cumulative number of fatalities to 3,775.

“15 patients have succumbed to the disease with 3 of them in the last 24 hours while 12 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of May, June and July 2021. This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 3,775.” Said MOH

The Ministry also confirmed 323 new cases of the virus from 3,636 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The new cases now push the cumulative number of cases and samples tested to 192,758 and 2,053,912 respectively.

“323 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 3,676. Total confirmed positive cases are now 192,758 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,053,912.” Said MOH

County distribution is as follows; Nairobi 166, Mombasa 41, Kilifi 31, Busia 24, Nakuru 23, Kiambu 10, Machakos 5, Nyeri 3, Kwale 3, Meru 3, Kajiado 3, Kericho 2, Kirinyaga 2, Siaya 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Baringo 1, Isiolo 1 and Murang’a 1.

In the same 24 hours, 644 patients have recovered from the virus pushing the cumulative number of recoveries to 182,326. Out of the recoveries 604 of them are from home-based care and 40 from various health facilities across the country.

“644 patients have recovered with 604 from the Home-Based Isolation & Care program & 40 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 182,326 out of which 145,742 are from the Home Based Care & Isolation program, & 36,584 are from various health facilities .” Said MOH
