The Ministry of Youth and Culture in Rwanda has confirmed that the Miss Rwanda contest has been suspended over allegations of sexual abuse of contestants.
The news follows the dramatic arrest of one Dieudonne Ishimwe, a former musician over alleged sexual assault of the contestants on April 27th.

The arrest conducted of the 36-year-old conducted by Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) led to the decision by the Ministry to suspend the event until when investigations are complete.
Dieudonne Ishimwe who heads the company behind the contest known as Rwanda Inspiration Backup was arrest following the resignation of a former Miss Rwanda winner four years ago.
