A Mombasa court has on Friday denied bond three Chinese nationals who were arrested for the offense of bribing detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
The three namely Li Gen, Li Xiaohua and Sun Xin have been termed as flight risk as they are not residence of Kenya.
Chief Magistrate Julius Nang’ea also noted that it will be difficult to trace the three once they leave there current employer thus denying them bond.
They will in the meantime be remanded at Shimo La Tewa prison awaiting there pre-trial on December 10th 2018.
According to the prosecution, the three can interfere with witnesses if released on bond.
They further added the indictment against them is of great importance as anything affecting the SGR aslo affects the entire country.
During their arrest, they were found guilty of trying to bribe the investigator from DCI Ksh 500,000 so as to flip the investigations in their favour.
“The three, Mr. Li Gen the in-charge of Transport, Mr. Li Xiaowu-security manager and Mr. Sun Xin-staff, were offering DCI investigators bribe of Kshs 500,000/= as an inducement to influence an ongoing criminal investigation at the SGR Miritini terminus” said the DCI.
In a second indictment, the three are said to have bribed the investigating officer and his team Ksh 200,000 so as to influence the outcome of their investigation.
The trio have so far denied all charges leveled against them.
