The Mombasa County fighters were on Tuesday able to contain the fire that broke out at Mombasa Hospital.
The 9 pm incident is said to have occurred when a gas cylinder exploded from the kitchen.
Patients who were at the facility we forced to run to safety as a huge smoke engulfed the building.
One of the patients reported that the inferno began from the children section immediately when the fire alarm went off.

She, however, scampered to safety as firefighters made their way into the hospital to contain it.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho thanked the firefighters and the good samaritans for stepping to contain the situation.
“My sympathies go to patients who were admitted at Mombasa hospital at the time fire broke out at the facility.
I thank fire fighters from different units who responded on time to contain the situation. To hospital staff and Good Samaritans, asanteni for the speedy evacuation of patients to neighbouring health facilities.”
This is the second incident to have happened in Mombasa as on Monday the same thing happened at Coast General Hospital.
At the Coast General Hospital, the rain was faulted for causing the fire at the main switch.
Patients run to safer as plans were underway to contain it.
