A building located along the Saba Saba area is on fire with fire engines from Mombasa County are currently on-site to battle it.

It is still not known what the cause of the fire could be as vehicles using the road forced to find alternative routes.

Residents joined in to help the fire department fight the inferno as they targeted the heavily affected areas of the building.

The transport system has already been affected as it the main road leading into the city.

Currently, many routes and roads in Mombasa are under construction to pave way for expansion and to ease congestion.

Fares across the island shoot up during such times with passengers forced to cough Ksh 150 to reach their destinations.
