Mombasa woman burnt with hot oil and water by ex-husband

A woman from Kisauni, Mombasa is nursing first and second degree burns sustained from her estranged husband.

Winnie Wambua, 24-years of age narrated to Nation how she was undergoing domestic violence from her now ex-husband Henry Mgondah.

The mother of one who runs a saloon in Kiasauni, Mombasa county had always wanted to walk out of her abusive marriage but it wasn’t easy for her.

When the pain was too much to bear, Winnie decided enough was enough as she stepped out of her marriage to start a new life.

Henry is said to have moved on with his life as well as he remarried another woman who he settled with.

On that fateful day, the victim is said to have received a visit from her former husband at her as he pleaded to have her back.

She declined before he went out for about 30 minutes then he came back armed with jug with unknown substance in it.

Winnie tried to call for help from her customer who had excused herself to have the two sort out their differences.

In no time, she felt some pain as the mixture of the hot oil and water was poured on her by the estranged husband.

Henry run away using a motorbike he had stationed outside the station before commiting the crime.

People who rushed to the scene found a stove hidden in a bush behind the salon, a stove that was suspected to have been used to boil the oil and water.

Police have launched a manhunt of the suspect who is suspected to have run to the Tanzania border.

His phone is being tracked as well as his social media page.The matter was reported at Kisauni Police station.
