A mother in Migori has gone into hiding after burning her daughter as punishment for losing Ksh 400.
Its said the girl had lost the money she was given to go pay for school fees.
To punish her,the mother tied her hands,poured paraffin on them before holding them over the gas.Upon burning them she fled leaving her daughter in pain.
Luckily the girl’s grandmother came to her rescue after being alerted by the neighbours.
Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said he learnt of the incident through media.
“Police rely on reported crimes to launch investigations as they cannot go on rumours. Crimes must be reported for police to take action,”Mr Joseph said
