Senate majority leader and Senator of Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen has termed the two bills signed into law by President Uhuru Kenyatta as unconstitutional.
Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen’s sentiments are of the reason that two bills were not tabled before the Senate as required by the law.
He first says it’s unfortunate that the State Law Office and State House advisors have failed in their duty to ensure that the laws signed by the President are Constitutional.
“It’s unfortunate that State Law Office&SH advisors have failed in their duty to ensure that laws signed by our boss are Constitutional. These two Bills are Unconstitutional for want of involvement by Senate as per Art.110 of the Constitution. I am going on record for posterity.” Said Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen.
On Friday President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill 2018 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill 2018
“President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House Nairobi, signed into law the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, 2019 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill of 2018.” Said State House Kenya.
