Nairobi County evicts Pangani Estate residents

Residents of Pangani Estate were forced to spend the night in the cold after they were evicted by Nairobi County officials.

The eviction of Pangani residents follows the government’s plan to build high rise apartments in the area.

“Tenants at Pangani Estate were forced to spend the night in the cold after Nairobi County forcefully evicted them from their houses to pave the way the building of new high-rise apartments.” Siad Thika Town.

Nairobi County officials are said to have arrived at around 11:00 PM when the residents were preparing to go to sleep.

The demolitions lasted for around 4 hours as the officials are said to have departed at around 3:00 AM.

An eviction notice is said to have issued as confirmed by the affected families even though they requested for additional time.

Compensation had already been done to the residents before an eviction notice dated June 31st was issued as reported by Capital FM.

The construction of the new apartments is in line with the President’s Big Four agenda on affordable housing.
