Nairobi County Gov’t demolish businesses at former simmers land

It was business unusual along Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Avenue on Monday when Nairobi County Government brought down a business owned by Simmers Club.

During the demolition, a stall, a car wash and a car park flattened the popular pimp my ride car wash situated at the Jomo Kenyatta Avenue.

The demolitions by the Nairobi County Government follows Governoe Mike Sonko’s proposal to bring down buildings that do not have approvals.

A business owner at the premise claims that no notice was issued to them before the demolition.

Last year in March, Simmers restaurant was brought down bringing to an end a business that has been in operation for decades.

Alleged rent arrears, legal fees, and court brokerage fees amounting close to Ksh 9 million are said to be at the center of the dispute.
