National Police Service (NPS) has withdrawn the security detail of Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.
The news follows the Senators public utterance on May 25th in Western Region where he termed the police as people who did not need any education as they are only tasked with holding a gun.
Despite efforts by the Senator to apologize over the remarks, NPS found the apology unsatisfactory and now they demand a proper apology to the people in service.
Taking on social media, Malala noted that his comments were taken out of context and thus the need to withdraw his statement and apologize to the disciplined forces.
“Public Apology To Our Disciplined Men and Women in Uniform.
My attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media about my utterances on the Police.
I wish to categorically state that my remarks were taken totally out of context.
Their importance to us cannot be overlooked.
It is in light of this that I wish to withdraw my remarks and apologise to our disciplined forces for the discomfort my remarks may have caused.” Said Senator Malala.
His statement on the very day angered Kenyans who questioned the sobriety of some leaders who are seeking public positions. Others demanded immediate action as they questioned as to whether he will clinch the Governor’s seat come August.
