Newcastle and Lille failed to agree on a deal in January which prompted the Magpies to pause and wait for the summer window to open to resume the negotiations.
The two clubs finally agreed on a £32 million fee this week, a deal which will see the Dutchman move to the Premier League on a 5-year contract.
Eddie Howe who has already signed goalkeeper Nick Pope and left back Matt Targett is looking to strengthen his team ahead of the 2022/23 season.
